Our promise

What “authentic” means on our site

We describe materials and artist work so you can buy with clear expectations — not marketing folklore.

Native American–made pieces

When a product is made by a Native American artist, we aim to show the artist’s name and materials in the title or description (for example Navajo sterling silver with turquoise). We do not invent tribal affiliation, enrollment status, or “certified authentic” seals we do not have on file.

Hallmarks

Many Native silversmith pieces are signed or stamped. Where we can see a hallmark, we mention it. We do not reprint copyrighted hallmark encyclopedias; if you need help reading a mark, contact us with the product link.

Materials

We label sterling silver, silver-plated, copper, leather, and stone types as accurately as vendor and in-house data allow. Silver-plated is never called sterling or solid silver. Stabilized turquoise and imitation stones are disclosed when that is what the piece uses.

Studio / fashion styles

Some Southwestern “Navajo-style” fashion jewelry is not Native-made. Those listings should read as style descriptions, not tribal authorship.

Provenance

How we source

Native artist jewelry in our catalog comes through established trade partners. We share what we know from the supplier invoice or tag — nothing more, nothing invented.

Trade partners

Artist-made sterling arrives through established partners. Artist names appear on product pages when provided.

Named when known

If an artist credit is missing, ask us before you purchase — we will share what we know from the invoice or tag.

Studio designs

Our own leather-and-stone designs are presented as Leather Stone Jewels work — never as Native authorship.

Stone guide

Turquoise & shell you will see named

We name stones when vendor and in-house data support it. Stabilized or imitation materials are disclosed when that is what the piece uses — we do not claim every turquoise piece is untreated natural turquoise.

Transparency

Sterling vs silver-plated

Two different products for two different goals — never blurred in our titles or wholesale offers.

Sterling silver

Used on Native artist pieces when that is the material. Quoted separately for wholesale when inventory allows.

  • Artist name + materials when known
  • Hallmarks mentioned when we can see them
  • Shop: Authentic Native Jewelry

Silver-plated

Volume lots and the $2,500 starter business package are silver-plated turquoise jewelry for resale — not sterling silver.

  • Never called sterling or solid silver
  • Built for markets and first inventory
  • Shop: Silver-Plated Handmade Jewelry

Boundaries

What we do not claim

Trust is easier when the limits are written in plain language.

Not every stone is untreated

We do not claim every turquoise piece is untreated natural turquoise.

No invented certificates

We do not claim certificates of authenticity unless a specific product includes one from the maker or supplier.

Ownership language

We do not claim Leather Stone Jewels is a Native-owned business on this page.

No fabricated reviews

We do not invent customer reviews or star ratings in our marketing copy.
